iPhone Duo foldable smartphone on display at a store launch event, on sale October 23 2026

iPhone Duo Release Date: On Sale Today — Price, Where to Buy and What to Do If Your Store Sells Out

Posted on October 23, 2026 by saudshoukat199@gmail.com

The short version: Apple’s first foldable iPhone is officially on sale today, Friday, October 23, 2026, in more than 70 countries including the US, UK, Canada and Australia. Pre-orders opened on October 16 and shipping estimates slipped to January 2027 within about half an hour, so demand is enormous. Apple Stores have a limited supply for walk-in customers in many markets today, but the company warns that launch-day stock is expected to sell out fast. Prices start at $1,999 for 256GB and climb to $3,199 for the 2TB model.

When is the iPhone Duo release date?

Today. Apple confirmed the timeline back in September: pre-orders opened at 5 a.m. PT on Friday, October 16, and general availability followed exactly one week later on Friday, October 23, 2026. The date was stamped across Apple’s original unveiling and repeated in the buying-guide press release Apple published on October 15, “Open up to new possibilities with iPhone Duo.”

The launch covers more than 70 countries and regions in the first wave, among them the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey, the UAE and Vietnam. If your country is not in that first wave, the wait is short: Apple has already locked in a second wave of 28 additional countries and regions for October 30.

Apple executive John Ternus set the stakes for the launch, calling iPhone Duo “the most transformational change to iPhone since the original.” Whether that holds up is a longer conversation, but it tells you how Apple is pitching the $1,999-and-up price: not as a Pro Max alternative, but as a new category of iPhone entirely.

How much does the iPhone Duo cost?

Apple kept the pricing simple and steep. US pricing, per Apple’s announcement:

  • 256GB: $1,999 ($83.29 per month for 24 months)
  • 512GB: $2,199 ($91.62 per month for 24 months)
  • 1TB: $2,599 ($108.29 per month for 24 months)
  • 2TB: $3,199 ($133.29 per month for 24 months)

UK pricing starts at £1,999. The price is identical in both colors, and Apple’s Upgrade program offers a lease option for buyers who prefer monthly payments. For the full run-down of the announcement, including the original pre-order details, see our iPhone Duo price and specs breakdown.

Where can you buy the iPhone Duo today?

The iPhone Duo is available from apple.com, the Apple Store app, Apple Stores, and carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. But if you want one today, the honest answer is that it depends on where you live and how quickly you move.

Apple confirmed earlier this week that Apple Stores will have limited stock for walk-in customers today in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Mexico and several European countries. Supplies are expected to be extremely limited, and Apple has said it expects them to sell out quickly. In the US, purchases are limited to two per customer.

Walk-in purchases will not be possible in France, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand or the UAE. In those markets, customers need to reserve a pickup time through Apple’s online store. Apple’s US online store is also telling customers to check back on Saturday, October 24 for Apple Store pickup reservations, which suggests stock levels may be replenished quickly after the first wave sells through.

Early signs suggest stock varies a lot by store. MacRumors reported buying an iPhone Duo at Apple Edinburgh early this morning with no trouble, with staff there saying they had received more units than expected. The same may not be true of flagship locations, where demand and queues run hottest.

Is the iPhone Duo sold out?

Effectively, for the impatient, yes. Demand is extraordinary. According to Macworld’s US tracking, pre-order shipping estimates slipped to January 25, 2027 within around half an hour of pre-orders opening on October 16. Several outlets, including CBS News, CNET and 9to5Mac, reported that the pre-order allocation sold out within minutes. Apple did not comment when asked whether pre-orders had sold out.

There is some encouraging news. Some pre-order customers have reported their delivery dates moving forward, up from December or January to mid-to-late November in the US, which suggests Apple’s supply is loosening. Apple is also reportedly expanding its 12-month production target by 44 percent to keep up with demand. And Apple’s SVP of Marketing, Greg Joswiak, told TechRadar before launch: “You know, we didn’t ship them all away during the pre-order; we have them available at the stores, we’re excited.”

The practical move if you missed pre-orders: check apple.com or the Apple Store app for delivery estimates today, try an Apple Store for walk-in stock if you are in an eligible market, and check back tomorrow for pickup reservations. Carrier stores are also worth checking, since their stock often lasts longer than Apple’s own.

iPhone Duo specs and colors, in brief

The Duo opens like a book from a compact phone into a much larger device. The main event is the 7.6-inch Super Retina foldable display, which Apple describes as its largest-ever iPhone display, with 50 percent more screen area than the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The outer display provides more than 90 percent of the screen area of a conventional iPhone, so it works as a normal phone when closed.

Other headline specs: a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera with zero shutter lag, dual FaceTime capture, the return of Touch ID (as a side button), Wi-Fi 7, MagSafe charging up to 25W, and iOS 27.1 with fold-specific multitasking features including Split View, hands-free FaceTime and video, and layouts that move between the two screens. The phone runs Apple Intelligence with the new Siri AI, and Apple Pencil (USB-C) support is coming later in 2026. Battery life is rated at up to 44 hours of video playback with the outer display and 31 hours with the inner display, according to Apple’s website.

It comes in two colors, Night Sky (black) and Star White, and Apple has two of its own case options: the iPhone Duo Folio ($129) with an extended kickstand, available in blue and taupe, and the thinner two-part iPhone Duo Case ($79), available in sand and navy blue. Both work with MagSafe, Qi2 25W and standard Qi chargers. OtterBox, Speck, Spigen and other brands have also released Duo cases.

Launch day at the stores

Apple is giving the Duo a flagship-scale retail push. Giant iPhone Duo installations appeared on the plaza beside the glass cube at Apple Fifth Avenue in New York ahead of launch, and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple plans to allocate more than 150 iPhone Duo units to demonstrations and displays at Fifth Avenue alone. Typical non-flagship locations are expected to receive around 20 units each, along with new demo fixtures that show the device opening and closing.

In many countries, Apple Stores opened early at 8 a.m. local time to serve customers who queued overnight. Early photos from Australia and Japan show the first buyers proudly posing with their new foldables, and Australian store staff have been welcoming the first people in line with celebration.

The iPhone Duo arrives at a busy time for Apple hardware. The company is also ramping up its new smart home push: Apple’s $299 HomeView smart home hub is now available for pre-order and ships November 13, and the HomePod mini 2 launches October 30.
